Why did I want a Charity Partner?
Charity and giving back are at the core of what I do and I have always felt an obligation to connect with our wider Queenstown community in different ways of giving, particularly those vulnerable members.
Having a Charity Partner enables me to dedicate all my fundraising and create awareness for our chosen partner for a full year, to make a real difference for them. I plan to continue this year with live music concerts, concert tours, lectures, workshops, speaking and presentations and various other community events throughout the year which will all be in aid of Happiness House.
Also, as a teacher who works primarily with children and teenagers, I do feel the responsibility to be a role model for these students and to help develop their understanding of the world around them. I believe that providing them with the opportunities to give and to appreciate the joy of helping others will be greatly beneficial to them through their lives.
Why Happiness House?
There were many reasons for choosing Happiness House as our Charity Partner for this year. Although I had often passed by Happiness House and had some knowledge of the good work they do, it was not until early this year that I got a chance to visit Happiness House, meet the lovely Lena, one of the coordinators who showed us around on a beautiful morning. I got to see and hear about the work they do, and it is my belief that this charity is a very well run, local, ethically, and socially responsible organisation that does the best it can with the resources available to it to make a big difference to the lives of the people it supports and helps in Queenstown. I believe that this aligned very much with our KKM values and after meeting Robyn the manager several weeks later I was delighted when she agreed to be our Charity Partner for 2022.
“As a registered charity we rely on the generosity of our community to operate and provide our services to the Whakatipu. We are excited to be a Charity partner with Kinga Krupa Music. Music can be transformational; it can take you on a journey. It will be so lovely to partner with Kinga and her students as they bring their skills and talent to the wider community for everyone to enjoy.” – Robyn
Our KKM family have made some wonderful memories and connections over the years with vulnerable members of our community particularly the elderly through events at BUPA Lake Wakatipu Care Home and events in aid of Alzheimer’s Otago last year. Hopefully this year we can add even more events for Happiness House and reach out to more people in our wider community. It is my belief that these types of events are a win-win situation for everyone involved and brings a lot of joy to all.
“What distinguishes small business from large-scale corporations is the connection with the community.”
